Responding from Jeri's Blog

Last night Jeri and family had a scare when alarm went off at 3 in the morning. You can read about it on her blog. well anyway I am to blame for it scaring her. Duh...Well she claims it is because I raised her in fear. So I decided to share why I raised my kids in fear. 1st thing I can remember about fear was when I was 6 yrs old. I was chased by a man with a knife on 3 occasions. Not too many people know about this. The first time he knocked me off my bicycle and threw it in the ditch and I was running fast to get home and it was good that door was open. the second time he chased me up a tree and he couldn't climb and finally he went home. The third time was the scariest and the last, He chased me up another tree and this time he kept throwing a knife at me over and over right in my front yard. Finally it fell in the ditch with high grass and he couldn't see it and I pointed to where it was not and when he was trying to find it I jumped and ran so fast. All three times my Mother went to his family with this, but nothing was done. He was mentally handicapped. If the police was called I never knew about it. You can figure what would happen today if this happened. A fourth thing did happen while we lived there. one day four teenage boys threatened me and scared me so bad, again I ran. I had never seen them before. They said things to me that at the time I had no clue what it meant. Well we finally ended up moving and I was so happy. My dad built that place and we didn't live there a year.
I  have had three friends who have turned out to be murderers, one relative who was a murderer, so that has taught me not to trust people even if you know them. Had one set of neighbors who disappeared never to be seen again. This all happened in my growing up years. After I was married and we were living in Louisiana, someone tried to break in on me at night when I was at home alone with no phone. I was so scared. we lived in the country and on our kitchen door we had a window that you could see through the curtain so I knew they could see me when they were banging on that door. Finally I went and got my gun, yes I had a gun in those days and I knew how to use it. I sat myself down in a chair and I yelled come on in and I am going to blow you away, they kept it up for a while and finally I yelled ok I am tired of this I am going to blow a hole thru that door if you keep it up. They left with that. When we moved back to Texas and we were living over on Rouge creek we had trouble with a peeping Tom and we had to call police out several times. I even saw him one night standing between the house and the woods. There is alot to be told about that ordeal, but most of you all know about that so if you don't just ask if you want to know
